Day 2 in New York: Night time photography

Date: Friday 21.2.2014

Yay, something off my checklist, finally!

Got to do some night photography, I could have wanted to do more, but the guys were ..once again.. too hungry and too cold to stay and make the most of the time we had :D.

I bought a new tripod from B&H and a ball head just for this purpose. The tripod is nice but after I've been used to my nodal ninja, the ball head is a little too simple to my taste, especially because we had a hurry hurry hurry to go go go go.  So no any good panoramas then, and the 15mm was kinda useless because of that reason. Fortunately I managed to got some decent shots with the 35mm :).

So off we went to Liberty state park, to see Manhattan from the other side (tm) and also to see the Empty Sky memorial for those who died in the 9/11 attacks.

The memorial was really  beautiful and stunning during the night time, I liked it a lot. Especially the way how the city lights reflected from the walls.

The guys got hungry and cold pretty fast so we headed to somewhere to get some pizza for the guys form a Domino's. While waiting them in the car I decided to pop outside and take few more shots so the time didn't completely go to waste.

This is definitely the one thing in photography I love the most. New York is pretty nice place to do this (even though a little bit too unsafe for my taste), but it's much better place for street photography. Maybe the best place for that in the whole world?

On Saturday it's the end of our trip's part 1, and we moved our asses to New Orleans - more about that later on.
